Opening & Closing

Two visits done right will save you time & money

A pool opened wrong in April will fight you all summer. A pool closed wrong in October will hand you problems all winter and a bad surprise next spring. Most of our opening and closing customers are also our weekly service customers. Our CPO certified technicians are trained in proper opening and closing techniques and practices that ensure your pool is ready for the upcoming season — or closed down and protected until the start of next season.

Why two visits matter. A Mid-South summer is hard on water — heat, sun, storms, debris. A proper spring opening sets the chemistry and equipment up so the whole season runs cleaner and cheaper. A proper fall closing is the difference between a pool that wakes up easy in April and one that hands you a thousand-dollar surprise.

Who’s doing the work. Our CPO certified technicians handle every opening and closing. Same crew that runs our weekly service routes. We know the equipment, we know the pools, we know what to look for. If something needs attention — a worn cover, a leaking valve, a heater that didn’t fire — you get a written quote before we touch it.

What’s on the schedule. Openings book up earliest in February and start running in early April once overnight temps are reliable. Closings book up in September and run through mid-to-late October before the leaves drop. If you’re in Memphis, Germantown, or Collierville, get on the schedule early — those zones fill first.

Equipment we work with. Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair pumps, filters, heaters, salt cells, and automation. If we built or renovated your pool, we already know the pad. If we didn’t, we’ll walk it on the first visit. Anything that needs repair gets quoted before any work is done — never a surprise on the invoice. See our equipment repair page for the full scope of what we handle in-house.

Common Questions

What opening & closing clients ask us

The questions we get most every spring and fall.

The best time on average is the month of April, before temperatures start to climb. Once temperatures climb, algae will begin to bloom. Opening in April gives you plenty of time to have the pool ready to swim by mid-May.
We recommend closing the pool before the leaves start to fall — mid to late October across most of the Mid-South.
Yes. We have many weekly service customers who leave their pools open year-round. We’ll monitor the system through freeze events and handle anything that comes up.
Either cover works to keep out debris, but certain settings — kids, pets, heavy leaf load — may call for a more structural safety cover.
If you notice your cover is damaged, replace it once it’s noticed to prevent the body of water from being compromised. We can quote a replacement on the closing visit and install it before winter hits.
There is no guarantee we will or won’t find issues during your opening. That mainly depends on whether the pool was closed correctly. If something needs attention, we quote it before any work is performed.
No. You don’t have to be home at the time of opening or closing, as long as we have access and opening/closing materials are left out for our techs.
We recommend waiting 48 hours to swim after opening. That allows our startup chemicals to circulate for 24 hours before full balance by the homeowner is completed — and we recommend another 24 hours of circulation time before swimming.
